Carrabbas For My Birthday

December 3, 2007

For my birthday, which was last Saturday, my boyfriend, Donnie, took me to Carrabbas Italian Grill. It was over in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas.

Right when I walked into the restaurant I could smell the aroma of Italian food. It smelt so good and inviting. The lighting was soft in the restaurant and right in front was a bar that was near the hostess station. The restaurant looked kind of small and it was a little busy but we got seated right away in a booth.

The waitress came over right away and asked what we wanted to drink and to ask if we wanted to start out with an appetizer. We decided to get the mozzarella and marinara for an appetizer. She came back with our drinks and some bread that you dipped in olive oil and herbs. I have never had this before but it was really good. The bread was nice and warm and the herbs were really good mixed in with the oil. Donnie asked the waitress to bring balsamic vinegar. He mixed that in with the oil and herbs and that was even better.

The atmosphere was very warm and quiet. Even though the restaurant was pretty packed, it wasn’t very noisy. It felt like I was in an intimate setting with Donnie even though were people all around me. The one thing I found to be very cool about the restaurant was the kitchen was open so you could see the chefs making the food. The whole kitchen was stainless steel and looked very clean. I thought that was very different from other restaurants.

I ordered the Quarto Formiaggo Ravioli. It was ravioli stuffed with for different cheeses that I don’t remember and then it was in a marinara sauce. It was really good and cheesy. Donnie ordered linguine with muscles, shrimp, and scallops in a marinara sauce. He said that it was very good too. The best part of the meal was the desert. I can’t remember what it was called but it was to die for. If you like chocolate then this it the desert for you. It was two brownies that had a chocolate mousse between them. On top was homemade whipped cream and then it was sitting in a pool of hot fudge. It was amazing. It was the perfect way to end a perfect meal.

Claim Jumper: A Great Restaurant

November 12, 2007

My boyfriend, Donnie, and I went out to eat on Saturday night to a restaurant that was called Claim Jumper. It was over by Henderson in a really nice area. We had to make reservations and they were at 8:30 p.m.

We walked in and had to wait for a little bit, so we went to the bar and Donnie got red bull vodka and I just ordered water. We probably only waited about five minutes to get a table but we shouldn’t had to wait at all because we made reservations. Anyway, we got to the table; our waiter didn’t come for another five minutes. By then we had both decided what we wanted. I ordered the black bowtie pasta, which had chicken, spinach tortellini, bowtie pasta, and a cream sauce in it. Donnie ordered the filet mignon with baked sweet potato and a biscuit with honey butter. We also ordered an appetizer of calamari, which is fried squid.

The restaurant was pretty big. It looked like a log cabin inside. They had antler chandeliers and a fire place in the middle of the restaurant. The restaurant was rather noisy since there were a lot of people eating there. The calamari came and it was the biggest calamari I’ve ever eaten. They brought it with cocktail sauce. The calamari was excellent. Then probably 15 to 20 minutes later our food came. My pasta was absolutely delicious. The cream sauce was to die for. It also came with cheese garlic bread that was amazing. The only thing that sucked was that I couldn’t finish it, so I had to get a to-go box but then I got to enjoy it the next day too. It was even good reheated. I thought the food was so good, I would definitely go back again. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. I liked the atmosphere; it kind of reminded me of Minnesota because of the woodsy theme. The prices weren’t that bad either. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Giant Panda Chinese Cafe

October 21, 2007

It’s “cheat day” at our house today and the girls brought me back some food from a place called “The Giant Panda.” This is a place that’s located near South Point Casino off of I-15, probably not a restaraunt many tourists would eat at. However, the food is good, so i just wanted to comment on it.
